Couple On The Run After Being Charged With Killing Daughter, 4, Who Had Burns All Over Body

URGENT: Manhunt underway for couple after 4-year-old girl found dead with 'severe burns'

A manhunt is underway for a MI woman and her boyfriend charged in the death of the woman's 4-year-old daughter, who suffered injuries that included severe burns on her arms and legs.

A postmortem uncovered signs of Battered Child Syndrome, denoting the girl had likely suffered egregious abuse for an extended period of time.

Leah Barrett said her family is heartbroken over the loss, but feels better knowing Diaz and Fields have been found and arrested.

The child was transported to an Ann Arbor hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Gabrielle Barrett had an upbeat personality and loved the movie Frozen, said her grandfather, Jerry Barrett, 47. His first time there was Sunday night, for a candlelight vigil. "She would run around the house when we had her, always with a big ol' smile on her face".

The couple's infant daughter is in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Police said Diaz and Fields are believed to be driving a black 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier with the MI plate DTR 1854.

Police announced Monday a manhunt is on for Diaz and Fields.

Police were sent to the home May 20, 2016, on a report of a domestic assault.

Police records show that Diaz told investigators that Fields had beat her and shot her dog before shooting himself in a suicidal outburst, the news station reported.

He was later arrested on domestic violence charges.

The investigation began after police responded to the home in Sumpter Township and the child wasn't breathing.

Currently, US Marshals are offering a reward of up to $5000 leading to the arrest of Candice Diaz and Brad Fields.

In 2006, Fields pleaded guilty to carrying an unauthorized concealed weapon and served a year of probation.
