Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Leaked by Danish Retailer

01 January 2018, 12:47 | Eugene Bates

However what lends more credence to this date is that fact that the very same retailer leaked the dates for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA V before Rockstar officially announced them.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now slated for a second quarter release on PS4 and Xbox One.

NME.com has contacted Rockstar Studios to ask if the leaked release date is accurate.

A Danish retailer called Coolshop leaked Red Dead Redemption 2's release date (reported by Game Informer.) Coolshop posted a listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 and it said that Red Dead 2 would be released on June 8, 2018 for the Xbox One and PS 4.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a western action-adventure game set in an open world environment and played from a third-person perspective, featuring single-player and online multiplayer components.

We're sure Rockstar's PR team has a plan but, if June 8 is indeed the new launch date, you would think The Game Awards earlier this month would have been the flawless time to make the final reveal.

A lot of the leaked release date's validity hinges on if this retailer really has an inside track, or if it just got lucky with Grand Theft Auto 5. For those planning on attending the event, a launch date of June 8 means that Rockstar actively hates you.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption and will follow the outlaw Arthur Morgan, a part of the Van der Linde gang. Usually games developed by Rockstar are out on Tuesdays and June 8 falls on a Friday.

Retailer slip-ups can be honest mistakes, as they ready product pages for upcoming games, allowing them to switch the pages live as soon as an announcement is made, with fake information entered into them before the real details are made clear. Tell us in the comments.
