John Dalton Jr. appeared Thursday morning in Madison County General Sessions Court.

Police launched a massive manhunt for Dalton and the Tennessee Highway Patrol spotted his black GMC SUV Wednesday near the Christmasville Road exit on Interstate 40 in north Jackson.

John Dalton Jr was wanted for first degree murder after originally being called a person of interest in the deaths of his parents and niece.

John W. Dalton is identified as his father, Jean Dalton is identified as his mother and Leonna Dalton-Phillip was his niece. The U.S. Marshals Service says Dalton was captured without incident.

Online court records indicate that John Dalton Jr. served prison time for manslaughter in the 1998 death of his wife, Shannon Dalton.

Police are searching for a convicted killer they believe shot and killed three people in Omaha, Neb., Tuesday evening. Prison records say he was paroled in 2010.

Officers were called to a home in the 3900 block of N. 37th Street shortly before 8 p.m.to investigate a shooting Tuesday. Dalton Sr. and Jean Dalton were Dalton Jr.'s parents and Leonna was Dalton Jr.'s niece, according to Omaha police.

Police are still in the process of notifying the victims' next of kin.
