22 December 2017, 12:56 | Sherry Padilla

Rain chances will be limited for the end of the work week before increasing again for the weekend ahead.

Expect hard travel conditions Friday midday through the daylight hours of Christmas Eve. As we move through the afternoon the rain will taper off. The potential exists for snow to fall on Christmas Eve due to a warm front.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually clearing, with a low of 23, according to the weather service.

The National Weather Service has issued the advisory from 10 tonight through noon Friday.

Syracuse- A pair of storm systems will target Central New York this weekend with rain and snow.

Forecasters have issued a winter weather advisory for northwest MA, where four to six inches of snow are predicted, followed by ice accumulations of about one tenth of an inch.

Turning unsettled with a spell of rain likely and turning cooler later in the evening.

- Arctic front drops temps Friday morning with rain mostly all day into the evening.

The snow will likely turn to sleet and freezing rain late Friday.

On Christmas Eve cold air blowing off the lakes should cause some lake effect snow showers develop later in the day, amounts do not look high. While forecast models favor snow in the area, it's still a bit too early to accurately determine who exactly in Northeast Ohio will see a coating, and just how much.

Accumulating snow is forecast in Omaha, Nebraska; Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines, Iowa; St. Louis; Chicago; Indianapolis; Detroit; Cleveland and Toronto as it rolls out Saturday night and Christmas Eve.

After that true Arctic air will descend upon the Great Lakes including WNY bringing frigid temperatures and lake effect snows mainly east and southeast of the lakes Tuesday through the rest of the week.

Walker said the area will see a cold weather pattern the first couple of days after Christmas.
