You can now pre-order apps from Apple's app store

Apple let a knockoff version of one of the world's biggest crypto wallets into the App Store

As MacStories reports, Apple updated its iTunes Connect Resources and Help documentation to reflect pre-orders are now an option for developers and also launched a pre-order information page. Pre-orders are only charged on the day the app is released, and if the price changes before that day (i.e. goes up or goes down), you'll only ever pay the lowest amount. Users who sign up to be notified of your launch will receive an alert, and also see the app download to their device automatically within 24 hours of your app going live.

For paid apps, customers will be charged before the download starts.

A developer will now be able to put their app in the App Store up to 90 days in advance of its release, rather than only being able to publish their app when it's ready to launch.

Interestingly, the week-old app claimed that users' "keys are encrypted and stored securely inside your phone and can not be accessed in any case". This means even iOS, macOS and tvOS apps can be pre-ordered. That's available in the US but it doesn't appear to have come to the App Store in United Kingdom and other global markets just yet. Interestingly, this feature has been made available for all iterations listed on App Store.

For some time now, Google has allowed users of its Android platform to pre-register for apps and games in order to be notified of that app's availability. Apps will have a "Pre-Order" label along with a tentative release date.

However, many apps and games will get announced beforehand.

Apple exercises a firm and strict hold on anything and everything that gets into its App Store, and for good reason.

Interest in cryptocurrencies has climbed in recent weeks as the bitcoin has repeatedly hit new highs, bringing its year-to-date return to 1,600 percent.
