Magazine on Friday said that it did not call the American president, Donald Trump, proposing to probably make him their Person of the Year.

President Donald Trump and Time magazine are in disagreement over the mag's upcoming "Person of the Year" cover.

Time Magazine's hit back saying he's "incorrect" about how it chooses its recipient. The magazine says it doesn't comment on its choice until publication.

Many Twitter users found Trump's tweet to be in poor taste, and mocked the president for his "fragile ego" and his "obsession" with the magazine.

- @HamillHimself (@HamillHimself) November 25, 2017.@nytimes just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named comedienne of the year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot.

"Bbc just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named sports personality of the year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot", tennis star Andy Murray tweeted.

Actor David Schneider joined in: "Hollywood just called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named the next James Bond but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot".

Time later posted a tweet of its own disputing Trump's account.

Time Magazine and several different Hollywood stars responded to Trump's claim that he "passed" on Time's "Person Of The Year" award.

Trump frequently brags about appearing on the cover of the iconic magazine.

And Oscar victor Patricia Arquette wrote in response to Trump's tweet that he could just print himself "another fake cover". "You should run Time!".

After throwing a slew of insults at the magazine between then and 2015, Trump praised it for including him on its cover in August 2015, as his presidential bid jumped to the top of the polls.

Former adviser to former President Obama and current co-host of "Pod Save America" Dan Pfeiffer tweeted that Trump's claim is "sad" and the president is "so needy for approval".
