Jude Law in Talks to Join Brie Larson in 'Captain Marvel'

Jude Law to Star Opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel

Negotiations are ongoing, though assuming a deal falls into place, Law will be rubbing shoulders with Star Wars alum Ben Mendelsohn, who has seemingly signed on to play the villain.

The actor is in talks to play the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Marvel's first superheroine-focused movie, "Captain Marvel", according to Variety. In his secret identity "Walter Lawson", Mar-Vell befriended Carol Danvers, and he was present during the accident that transformed her. Details are limited on the character, but the outlet notes that he will be a mentor character to Larson's titular hero after she gains her super powers.

First Marvel announced a Captain Marvel movie, and we were excited.

It is unknown what Law's role in the film would be.

Of course, there is one character can play: Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel, who has already been rumored to be a part of the film by our friends over at MCU Exchange. A photo was recently revealed of him as Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and now this news. He finds his way back to Earth, where he dons the mantle of Captain Marvel, an alien savior/superhero who gets into some really weird stuff.

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Feige announced that the superhero film will be set in the '90s, before the Avengers ever thought of assembling, and Samuel L. Jackson is expected to reprise his role as Nick Fury.
