Female SNL staffers castmates stand up for Al Franken

In Sen. Al Franken's (D-Minn.) case, Leeann Tweeden, a radio news anchor with KABC in Los Angeles, came forward last week with accusations stemming from a USO show in 2006.

Franken responded to the CNN report by saying he didn't remember taking the photo with Menz, but that he feels badly that she felt disrespected.

"I take thousands of photos at the state fair surrounded by hundreds of people, and I certainly don't remember taking this picture", Franken said. "I feel badly that Ms. Menz came away from our interaction feeling disrespected".

Menz was emphatic that she "absolutely" would not have made a decision to share her story had Tweeden not done the same.

Over the weekend, Franken's staff said he has no plans to resign. On the contrary, several women who worked with Franken in his Senate office issued a joint statement praising him for his professionalism. She added, "It was wrapped tightly around my butt cheek".

Tweeden also released a photo showing Franken grabbing her chest through her protective vest while she was sleeping. It wasn't around my hip or side. When she reconnected with her husband moments later, she told him: "He totally grabbed my butt".

"They agreed it would be best for the legislation and for every survivor of sexual assault for that bill to be sponsored by someone else", she told CNN. ". In our experience, we know Al as a devoted and dedicated family man, a wonderful comedic performer, and an honorable public servant".

"I was upset", said husband Jeremy Menz after the incident. While practicing for a USO show in Afghanistan that they were to perform for USA troops, Franken forcibly kissed her and shoved his tongue into her mouth, she said. Neither, they said, is registered with a political party.

Franken apologized to Tweeden multiple times on the heels of her allegations. She said she has equally supported Republican and Democratic candidates.
