Maine unemployment dips to 3.5% in October

Slight rise in Idaho unemployment for October

The state unemployment rate dipped to 2.7% in October, a tenth of a percent lower than in September.

The state rate represents about 77,000 unemployed people in October compared to about 83,000 jobless people in September.

The last time Hawaii County's rate was 2.3 percent was in December 2006, before the start of the Great Recession.

However, the number of unemployed in OH has increased by 11,000 in the past 12 months, from 285,000 in October 2016, when the state's unemployment rate was 5%.

Unemployment peaked at 11.1 percent in June 2011, and has since tapered down over the years.


"The low unemployment rate and job gains are indicators of the ongoing strength of the economy in MA".

The figures are seasonally adjusted.

Good news for the Sunflower State - the unemployment rate is the lowest its been since 2000.

Unemployment remains historically low in ME, with the rate at or below 4 percent for 25 consecutive months, officials say. Private sector jobs also decreased by 1,700 since September.

Government employment, at 772,600, increased by 3,300 positions. The largest supersector movement in October was an increase of 6,000 professional & business services jobs, while the largest drop was a 4,900 decline in trade, transportation & utilities.
