Weird iOS 11.1 bug autocorrects i to A -- here's how to fix it

Weird iOS Bug Replaces "I" With "A[?]" in Text Messages

Some Apple users with devices running iOS 11.1 are finding that typing the letter "I" autocorrects to an "A" with a unicode [?] symbol instead.

Apple iPhone users have been hit by a weird bug which turns the letter "I" into a unusual question mark thing in a box - making texting a living hell.

If you have an iPhone and haven't updated your hardware to iOS 11.1, these current user stories may make you wait on doing that.

IOS 11.1 update has come with incredible new emojis which include many trend-setting ideas like a woman with a headscarf, a fairy emoji, and a zombie.

Bustle said it took more than one try for some users, but it only took users in the Sun Herald newsroom one try. If this is bothering you, all you need to do is create a new text replacement. From there, tap Text Replacement and then tap the "+" symbol. After that, you are required to type an upper-case "I" character for the phrase and a lower-case "i" character for the shortcut.

It's not a ideal solution, however. "When I tried to copy and paste the content of the tweet, my paste fixed it and just showed the letter 'I'". Basic troubleshooting, such as resetting the user's personalized keyboard dictionary or restarting the device does not fix the issue, Reddit users report. There is a slew of these apps on the App Store, but some highly rated (and free) options include Google's Gboard and SwiftKey.

Go to Settings General Keyboard Text Replacement. Which, judging by the fact that "I" is a relatively important letter in the English language, will probably be sooner than later.
