The SNES Classic Releases Tomorrow and How Can You Get One

Nintendo SNES Classic Edition Teardown Reveals Same Hardware As NES Classic

The SNES Classic Edition follows up the massively successful release of the Nintendo NES Classic last fall.

But it could mean that Nintendo will literally have millions of SNES Classics waiting for buyers at launch.

Nintendo is taking fans back to the past with a re-release of an old home console.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic, a mini-version of the retro console launching on September 29, sold out nearly immediately when preorders went live on August 22. Those lucky enough to get a copy will be able to enjoy vintage Nintendo games from the 1990's again or for the first time with friends and family. Read our Nintendo Switch review and the SNES Classic Mini. The Tracker in stock alerts are now also available on Twitter.

The return of SNES Classic Mini pre-orders to GAME comes a day ahead of the big release date. And with two controllers included, there's always room for a friend to join the fun.

As for the inverse scenario - an NES Classic with an SNES Classic Controller - we tested Super Mario Bros. Units that shipped that day were mostly to customers who pre-ordered. Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop, Toys R Us, ThinkGeek (yes, they have actual stores) and even B&H Photo Video in NYC will all have the SNES Classic in stock on Friday. It is priced at $79.99 in the States. That's a solid improvement from the NES Classic, which only came with one. It also said that the NES Classic would return to retail shelves next year. And while most gamers simply wanted to purchase the new system and have a bit of nostalgic fun with it, others' intentions weren't a bit sneakier: People have already started ripping the shoot-em-up title Star Fox 2 to original SNES cartridges.

SpongeFreak52 is right in that the SNES Classic is nearly identical in its hardware, while unlocking the limitation of 8-bit games in favour of 16-bit.

I've opted not to include a gallery of the collection's most obvious perk: the first-ever manual for Star Fox 2.
