Who is Roger Stone
In a tweet Friday morning, President Donald Trump says he's being investigated for firing FBI Director James Comey.
"She added that she was "increasingly concerned" Mr Trump will fire both [investigative special counsel] Robert Mueller and Rosenstein".
On Twitter, Mr Trump dismissed as "phony" the idea his campaign colluded with any Russian effort to sway the 2016 United States election.
Mr Rosenstein played a part in the dismissal of former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey who was sacked by Mr Trump in May.
"You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!" he said in an early morning tweet.
Deputy Attorney-General Rod Rosenstein submitted a widely circulated memo to the President last month raising concerns over Mr. Comey's performance, but Mr. Trump later asserted that he had already made the decision himself to fire Mr. Comey.
The White House cited his memo as a reason for firing Comey, but Trump later admitted in an interview with NBC News that he was going to fire him regardless of the recommendation of his top appointees at the DOJ and was thinking about the bureau's investigation into Russia's meddling in the election.
And it was Rosenstein who appointed Mueller as special counsel to the Russian investigation.
In his latest tweet, the president seemed to confirm he is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice.
Confidants and advisers close to Mr Trump said his fury was mounting at the probe and he had been yelling at TV sets about its press coverage.
The transition official said the organisation has also separately asked the General Services Administration to preserve records from the Trump transition that were transferred to its facilities after Trump's inauguration.
"Well, we were asked our opinion, and when we expressed it, which was consistent with the memorandum and the letter we wrote, I felt comfortable. and I guess the deputy attorney general did too", he said, "in providing that information in writing".
The move ordered Thursday by the transition's general counsel cast a wide net on documents tied to the Russian Federation investigation as well as inquiries into the activities of Trump associates.
"The message the president is sending through his tweets is that he believes the rule of law doesn't apply to him and that anyone who thinks otherwise will be fired".
Trump fired Comey in May, just as the FBI was investigating ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.
The order came the same day that Vice President Mike Pence hired an outside lawyer to represent his legal interests.
Coats met behind closed doors for more than three hours Thursday with the Senate intelligence committee, which is conducting a separate investigation into Russian interference in the election. "Regulations way down, jobs and enthusiasm way up!" And Democrats and Republicans alike have criticized his use of Twitter, particularly amid the ongoing investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Tech CEOs Descend On The White House
Most recently, the tech industry criticized Trump over his decision to pull out of the Paris climate accord. There are likely to be discussions also about the technology in other parts of government.
