BREAKING: Four US soldiers shot & killed in 'insider attack' at Afghanistan military base
An Afghan soldier attacked foreign troops at a military base in the north of the country on Saturday, officials said.
The injured troops have been evacuated for treatment, the mission said in a statement.
"The incident is now under investigation", the statement read.
Militants plan so-called green-on-blue attacks in order to destabilize trust between Western service members and local soldiers, but they can also stem from local soldiers lashing out due to personal grievances.
At least three United States troops were wounded on Saturday when an Afghan soldier opened fire at them at a military base in northern Afghanistan, the defence ministry said, in an apparent insider attack.
A spokesman for the 209th Corps, Abdul Qahar Aram, previously said that an Afghan soldier had opened fire on foreign forces stationed in that base. "Insider attack Camp Shaheen, Mazar-e Sharif under investigation".
On Saturday, Mujahid praised the camp Shaheen attack in a statement sent to the media, but did not claim Taliban responsibility. The attackers were disguised in Afghan army uniforms. One Afghan soldier was killed and another was wounded, the coalition said.
The U.S. now has roughly 8,400 troops in Afghanistan (excluding those in country on a temporary basis), while North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and coalition allies have a total of about 5,000 forces.
U.S. troops are also at risk in other parts of Afghanistan.
Halep playing Ostapenko in French Open final
This has the feel of a match that's going to feature plenty of twists and turns, and it will probably end up going the distance. But none of that has weighed down on the fiery youngster so far. "I never played against her". "Because nobody knows my phone".

In a recent news conference, investigators also stated the incident happened at 6:45 a.m., not 5:45 as previously stated. Finally, I urge all those in the surrounding areas to be vigilant and cautious while the killers remain at large.
French Open final 'a nice gift' for Ostapenko
Even those odds were pretty stingy, given that she was unseeded and had never been past the third round of any Grand Slam. Among them is Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, now the world's No. 47, whom Pierce said is "definitely someone to watch".
